The mission of the Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) is to carry out cutting edge research on risks and adaptation related to environmental hazards and global change. The institute’s research promotes policies and programmes to reduce these risks, while taking into account the interplay between environmental and societal factors.

    Education and Capacity Building

    Capacity building is one of the core activities carried out by UNU-EHS. There are three main avenues for delivering capacity building: through academic activities, training programmes, and project-based activities to develop capacities of institutions. The UNU-EHS E-Campus is a virtual learning environment offering online training and education to staff, students, and project partners of UNU.

      Fondements du financement et de l'assurance contre les risques climatiques et de catastrophes (FARCC) et participation significative de la société civile

      Ce cours en ligne gratuit que vous pouvez suivre à votre propre rythme  propose une introduction  complète au financement et à l'assurance des risques climatiques et de catastrophes (FARCC) ainsi qu'aux processus politiques qui l'entourent. Ce cours présente des cadres conceptuels et politiques,  posant les bases du  FARCC, et présente des approches concrètes  Il montre également comment le FARCC peut être intégré dans les cadres politiques nationaux et  donne un aperçu de l'engagement des Organisations de la Société Civile (OSC) et des stratégies de plaidoyer aux niveaux national, régional et international. Enfin, il met en lumière les avantages, les limites et les défis potentiels des solutions de FARCC. À la fin du cours, les participants devraient disposer de plus de ressources pour s'engager de manière significative et critique dans les programmes de FARCC. Ce cours en ligne s’adresse en priorité aux organisations de la société civile désireuses d’intervenir dans le domaine du FARCC. Il demeure néanmoins accessible gratuitement à toute personne souhaitant approfondir ses connaissances sur le sujet.

    • Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change

      In this interactive self-paced course, policy makers, development professionals, researchers and students will learn how climate change influences human mobility. By introducing key concepts like climate related migration, disaster displacement, planned relocation and trapped populations, this training will build capacities needed to consider human mobility in the context of climate change (HMCCC) in your respective field of work. The training showcases diverse examples from different countries on the phenomena of HMCCC as well as options how to manage it.

      This course is designed for policy makers and staff of government institutions as well as professionals within the field of development. Researchers, students, and anyone interested in learning more about how climate change impacts human mobility are invited to take the course as well.
