The goal of the Academy in 2010 is to facilitate dialogue and interaction among participants that explores the present knowledge base in key affected countries, identifies the most critical gaps in protection needs, and illuminates the types of migration standards, best practices or policy frameworks that can serve as models for decision-makers and practitioners in the field.
The goal of the Summer Academy is to establish guiding principles for adaptation in fragile states. The aim isn’t so much to establish linkages between impact and fragility, but a forward-looking approach to “what can be done” given the complexity of fragile situations. This is not an attempt to come up with yet another universal blue print that ignores the complexity of both state fragility and climate change processes. Contextualisation is key to adapting guiding principles to concrete plans and action.
